Thaks for the response. The vidoes were a lot of help. I think the drill in this video with the extended club not hitting your left side on the follow throug is key for me. I gripped way down on a seven iron to acheive this and I think I almost broke a rib…haha. With a couple more trips to the range I know your advice will have me hitting straight. Keep up the good work!
Yes, and see “golf pro lesson the insanity of golf” to make sure you have the right focus to the target; if you make the ball your target, you are setting yourself up for a nice chicken wing collapse; see also “golf pro lesson timing and tempo update” Shawn
can the chicken wing move cause a pull hook?
hi shawn ! nice to see you outdoor and with sunshine ! ; ) tks for your work from an italian golfer.
recently I have developed a bit of a fade bias on some of my shots. I think that this vid will help me release the swing better enabling me to hit a straight shot, when needed. Thanks
Dan
Well said…
Hey Josh!
You want to continue to work the ball from both directions on a regular basis as this will balance your swing and keep it humming; Watch the “Golf Pro Lesson Hooks and slices”, “Golf Pro Lesson Be a Solid Ballstriker” and “Golf Pro Lesson Tilted Spiral part 3″ and let me know…Shawn
hey shawn iv commented youre videos before but i have some more questions that it would be great if you answered ok so my normal golf shot is like a 20 yard slice on a good day but if i want to i can make myself draw i was wondering if i should just play for the draw on every shot and just forget my old slice golf swing
do you post on golfwrx? that’s were I often go to get swing advice
Hey Ferrari freak!
Best is to continue to watch my videos starting from the feet together to the one leg drill videos to get the centered feel in the swing; then go to the rest of the videos for swing sequence, sequence power drills and downswing weightshift videos…all are on my “you tube Shawn” page of my website and if you want everything prioritized, I suggest you get my DVD! Shawn
hey shawn im 14 years old and have a 14 handicap i have a problem after i come through the ball, and lift my right heel to fully turn, i slide my right foot almost to my left foot. when i try to not slide it, i top the ball and cant transfer my power to my left side to power through the ball, could you help me? -future pro
haha cheers, was only joking about no need for technique i actually work quite hard on it!! think its good that uve put all these videos up here for everyone to learn from for free!
That’s OK GM; it just means that you are not ready for the information yet; and you probably have some nice natural ability; You would like my “Golf pro lesson Through the ball” video…Shawn
gd videos but too complicated for me, think you should just try an hit the ball as hard ad possible no need for technique, much more fun that way!!!! lol
Hi shawn i know this has no real relevance to this video but i have been really struggling with my golf swing. i take the club back then on the downswing my hands come through on a different plane(i think) and i am hitting everything either right of where im aiming or kind of toe shanking it. Do you know how i can stop this? much appreciate if you could reply. thanks ryan.
nice video!
hi shaun could u go on my user and see what im doing wrong in my golf swing!!! i feel if i have to stop in my backswing because i may overswing?? so could u please check out my video!!! thanks!
Hey man, thanks a ton for the advice. I need to get my swing up on youtube for people to critique. I think the idea of the swing feeling wide is the best advice, I’m off to try this right now. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get back to the range for a few days due to injury, but hopefully this will help.
No No No!!!
There are a few concepts you have not experienced yet; I would have agreed with you about 10 years ago though! Many many teachers teach how to release the body or clear the body to allow for better extension through the ball to the target…BUT, when you remove the long shaft, you will get a release of the right hand over the left but it is in ascension or releasing upwards and away…have a look at the “Golf Pro lesson no Bones About it” video…Thanks for the comment! Shawn
The best thing about this video is when you said swinging back too fast causes the club to cross the line.
The long shaft is great for chipping, because it keeps the left wrist firm through the ball, preventing a ‘scooping’ action at impact and reinforcing a single lever swing. For the same reason, in a full swing, the long shaft actually causes a chicken wing because it prevents your right forearm from rotating over the left. You may want to redo this video. Just my humble opinion.
Thanks for your comment Jessie!
Shawn
he bouces on his feet before the swing watch!!
I have played golf more than 2 years and had lessons from few coachs but I still cannot get exactly how a golf swing should be until I have watched Shawn’s videos. Now I found my swing is much more fluid. Look forward to get more from your dvd.
Fantastic! Thanks for the comment and keep it up! Shawn
Hey Shawn, really really helpful – I’ve been playing golf (badly – handicap 30+) on and off for a couple of years now, and this weekend after watching a number of your videos and taking the advice onto the course, I had a real breakthrough.
By trying to get more width in my swing whilst keeping my weight braced on my left side, suddenly I was getting proper rotation, consistent clean contact and greater accuracy with all clubs. Had a few average holes, but most were par or bogey. Thanks again!
