www.birdieball.com Physical constraints at golf facilities have always been a barrier to teaching large numbers of kids the game of golf. The PGA Colorado Section is reaching out to change that by bringing the golf course to the children. Understanding that teaching golf where the kids are is a focus of the PGA Colorado Section is the impetus for the PGAs partnership with the YMCA, BirdieBall and Dicks Sporting Goods Park. Many kids who have two working parents spend much of their summers in YMCA programs. The YMCA will gather these youngsters from all of the Denver area YMCAs to create what is believed to be the largest off course golf training event ever. This event will be FREE to the youngsters. On June 23rd, 24th and 25th, 10 am until noon each day, the YMCA will bring a total of 1000 kids ranging in age from 5 to 13 years old to Dicks Sporting Goods Park for an introduction to golf. Instruction on grip, stance, ball position, alignment, short swing and big swing will be provided through local Colorado PGA golf professionals and apprentices. This is all being made possible because of a breakthrough in limiting the flight of the golf ball. BirdieBall, a Wheat Ridge based business, is the leader in off-course golf technology and will be providing the BirdieBalls and StrikePads used during the three day event.
