Don’t expect great results from Jay Haas this week at the First Tee Champions Tour stop at Pebble Beach. Haas has some elbow tendinitis, but it won’t stop him from playing with a Jr. partner at this most unique golf experience. Young players who earned playing spots at Pebble with game and a command of the 9 core values that First Tee teaches, is something Haas isn’t about to miss. His uncle Bob Goalby gave Jay his life lessons on the golf course, as Haas has done with his son Bill on now the PGA tour. Hass was #1 on the tour for the elite over 50 touring pro circuit last year. He owns 9 PGA tour wins on a dozen on the Senior circut. Monday at Sonoma Golf Club, the site for the season ending Champion Tour event, Haas was joined by last years winner at Sonoma Andy Bean in a meet the media session. They talked about Tom Watson’s near monumental triumph at the British Open, how quality the Champions (formerly the Seniors) Tour really is, and other topics we’ll be highlighting on this site. With the First Tee this week at Pebble and Old Del Monte courses, some of the legends of golf will play alongside the youngsters. You can count on Bean and Charles Schwab cup challengers Loren Roberts and Bernhard Langer to go for valuable points towards the Champion Tour Schwab Cup.
