I have been using this method out of my own experimentation for a long time.
This video vindicates me and confirms what I have always thought to be correct.

It is okay to pivot on your left foot in your backswing and to tilt your left shoulder. Then in downswing move your hips forward as you turn.Lastly, remember to arch backwards so that upper body lags the buckle/waist at the finish.

This is complete bullshit how is something golfers hav been doing. For hundreds of years wrong its always better to shift ur weight

  3. 1dezarae1 says:

I gotta wonder though. Did your game improve due to S&T or just because you worked at it. Had you taken some traditional swing lessons would it have improved just as much?

  4. GAKKERMAN says:

I use s&t now for some weeks and it works for me very well from sandwedge to 4 iron. But my 3 wood (from tee) and driver it does not work yet. Maybe someone can tell me wat to do. Maybe the ball more in front off stance?

Listen everyone that doubts this guys handicap: He is the SENIOR editor for Golf Digest. I don’t think he would have a lot of room to “cheat” his handicap. He probably plays with some great pga players and coaches and gets tips from them all. His swing may not look the part, but I am fairly confident this guy is a legit 10 handicap.

I am a ten handicap and I used to be a lot worse. My biggest problem was topping the ball causing it to only go a few feet. VERY FRUSTRATING. I managed to fix my swing myself just by working on hand eye coordination. Though, I have a lot of friends that top the ball frequently and I try to teach them this stack and tilt method because it works. I am just curious if the stack and tilt method is good for driving to becasue ive always heard to put your weight on your back foot while driving.

While working on my own game, I came upon most of these “tips” before I knew what they were called. Maybe something more on it can help me fill in the holes.

I’m a six handicap and when you see me hit only two fairways and two greens but still shoot a 78 you will see a great short game can make up for poor hitting.

This guy could be a 10. given he is a decent putter.

  11. goonerdotcom says:

I agree with you guys with his swing BUT not agree I play regularly with a guy who moves both feet all over the place as if he walks off his back swing and walking in the shot. I can see lines on his palm when hes griping his club (seriously), his grip on his putter is all on the shaft, he plays a mismatched set of irons and is a 9 to 10 handicap consistently. Go figure that out.

  12. bill33john says:

I don’t know why he can’t be a ten handicap? I am a 14 and have what most people would call a rushed and onorthodox swing, but it goes straight and far, I just hit the ball.

  13. tiltinNstackin says:

you got better using this swing? this stuff works?

    good video

  14. berenrussell says:

he could be off 10. it’s all in the short game if you are on or around the green in regulation.

  15. markoconroy says:

if he’s a ten h’cap then my arse is a 4 string banjo

  16. fatmayor says:

no chance that guy’s a legit 10 handicap

  17. smigio111188 says:

this guys swing is horrible and doesnt do this method much justice lol…but if you work on these drills right it will work good on all your clubs…you would be suprised

  18. smigio111188 says:

i went to the butch harmon school of golf after my senior year of hs….he had me do similar drills, mainly the punch shot drill…i went from being a 10 handicap down to breaking 80 about 60 percent of the time…one years time…no bullshit…i can put up the videos of me at his school

  19. thisisboringnow says:

    That swing looks absolutely abysmal.

You are now chicken-winging it and your head looks cramped into your chest.

Also you have a flying right elbow and cross the line on the backswing.

Wont this swing prove a nightmare on driver and fairway woods as you dont want to be hitting down on them?

  20. 11carraghers says:

golf digest senior editor??? no wonder everyones confused lol.

  21. pyeon says:

Stack and tilt works equally well with drivers. Please read Nick Clearwater’s posting in Youtube…It works just fine for me.

  22. iamiam79 says:

not at all, i’m bombing my drives now. a lil tip from me about your driver is to not ground the club at address. Works like a charm for me. good luck

  23. LKskateNC says:

hey i found it very hard to do it with driver and fairway wood to.. but i sorta imagined a ball in the centre of my stance and balance over that and i hit the ball great

  24. rw5791 says:

I prefer to load up my right side and then”step over” to my left foot before rotating through on the downswing plane.

  25. d2paintballer says:

This swing is very helpful to me because I can’t make a full swing due to shoulder surgery which restricts my right shoulder from rotating back to make a full swing. In a way, this was my swing before the ” inventor ” thought this up. I have been hitting 300+ drives for about 2 years….maybe someone has been watching and learning from me :)
