Great comment!
Nice to feel and be aware of the differences from within!
See also “golf pro lesson distance to ball part 2″ as well as “golf pro lesson the insanity of golf”; they are great refreshers on focus!
Shawn
Wow, Wow, Wow. You can’t believe what this video did for my swing. The problem I had was that I am a heavy guy and my arms were hanging a little to the side of my stomach and not taut. But once I let my arms hang directly in front of me I had a swing depth/length that I duplicated time and again and a distance tothe ball that was easily determined.
gr8 tip
Thank you
Dan
Hey Dan!
Have a look at the following vids:
“golf pro lesson training aids” I think it is in Part 1 where I show you how to use that blue sling that keeps the elbows close together; then also see “Golf Pro Lesson arms in front of body” and “golf pro lesson elbow close?” videos;
Shawn
Hi Shawn, When you say that your elbows are together, what do you mean exactly? Do the insides face eachother or do the elbows’ bones face eachother. It might be helpful to see address from the “face on” angle with you wearing a short sleeve shirt. Great vid though. Very important tip, especially with the longer clubs.
Dan
I must have missed this one dude! Sorry about that!
Depends on the shot and I never swing harder than 65% with the wedges and short irons as they are my scoring clubs; so the tone in the arms tend to match the intent;
Great question! Shawn
Yes it is!
Have a look at the “Golf Pro Lesson Leg and footwork” video…
Thanks for your comment! Shawn
Shawn, first off, thanks for all the great golf videos. You have helped me understand the golf swing tremendously. I noticed in this video your feet are pointed outwards. Is this the proper position?
Shawn – I’ve been focusing on this “short circuit” a lot lately (re: DVD). OBVIOUSLY, the longer the club, the further your body is from the ball. I think what you’re saying is …. “the longer the club, the further away your HANDS are from your body”. Right?
Although, in your video with the short iron (sand wedge?) your arms don’t look all that taut when you let your right hand off the club. Your arms look pretty “relaxed” in fact. Any comment?
I do have my “Golf Pro Lesson Great Driver Tip” and have a nice 15 minute section on how to hit 3 different driver shots in my dvd including the “Off the turf” tee shot that Woody Austin uses; The driver is a much more versatile club than people think! The DVD can be ordered from the “My DVD” page of my website and you will find all my 106 vids on the “You Tube Shawn” page;
Thanks for the kind words and comment! Shawn
hi.. as usual, greet tips.. you earned my complete trust, since you helped me out with lots of tips and tricks.. improving my game, tanx 4 that.. i recently bought a driver, ow yeah, and i was looking for some info online, and i found few real good videos, could you help us out , and teach us some driver moves… tanx, take care…b
Shawn, this series really helps me understand how to maintain my suction cups in the arches of my feet. It feels like, when the arms are taught, I can protrude my buttocks out properly to feel that suction under the arches of my feet. This is another series I had to view over again to really hone in on my swing. I seem to get better each time I review your series a few times over–sometimes, months in between.
That sounds good; maybe one for the short irons and wedges, one and a half for the mid and long irons, 2 for the woods and 2 and a 1/4 for the driver. Let me know how it goes!
Shawn, would you support the notion of having one hand width between thigh and lead hand for irons, Two hand widths between thigh and lead hand for Driver as a reference to keeping the arms “taught”?
