Golf Tip on Long Chips from GOLF Magazine

Golf Course

Golf Training
IN THIS SECOND SEGMENT OF INSIDE GOLF MAGAZINE VOLUME II WE ARE JOINED BY PGA TOUR PROFESSIONAL BRETT QUIGLEY, WHO TELLS US HOW HE USES SIMPLE INSTRUCTION TO KEEP HIS GAME AT ITS BEST. I’D SAY FOR A WEEK LIKE THIS, WHERE CHIPPING AND PUTTING ARE VERY IMPORTANT, I?LL SPEND EXTRA TIME ON THE PUTTING GREEN, EXTRA TIME WITH MY WEDGES TRYING TO GET DISTANCES DOWN OR CHIPS. I’M A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN MOST PLAYERS; I’M NOT VERY TECHNICAL, I’M MORE OF A FIELD PLAYER. I WORK WITH TODD ANDERSON. WITH TODD I WORK ON MY POSTURE, MY BALL POSITION, WHERE THE BALL?S IN MY STANCE, AND MY ALIGNMENT. IF THOSE THREE THINGS ARE GOOD,THEN MY SWING?S GOING TO BE GOOD. YOU LOOK AT THESE GUYS ON TOUR, THERE?SA LOT OF WAYS TO SWING THE CLUB. IF A GUY?S GOT GOOD RHYTHM AND GOOD FUNDAMENTALS AT IMPACT, EVERYBODY?S GOING TO FIND A WAY TO HIT IT STRAIGHT. JUST FOR ME, I KNOW I DON?T NEED A LOT OF DAILY INSTRUCTION OR DAILY MAINTENANCE BUT, I?LL BE ON THE ROAD AND TODD WILL BE AT SEA ISLAND AND I SAY, THIS IS WHAT THE BALL PLATE?S DOING. HE’LL SAY, YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK YOUR BALL POSITION OR JUST CHECK YOUR POSTURE. IN TWO SECONDS, IT?S BACK TO WHERE I?VE GOT A HANDLE ON IT AND I KNOW WHERE THE BALL?S GOING TO GO. INSIDE GOLF MAGAZINE TOP 100 GOLF LESSON IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE USGA MUSEUM. COME EXPLORE MORE THAN A CENTURY OF GOLF?S CLASSIC MOMENTS AT THE USGA MUSEUM, TODAY.
